New Coursera Courses
I am starting to work on a new Coursera courses in the field of the Finite-Element Method. If there’s a specific topic you’d like to have covered, please let me know and I will take it into consideration!
Thought about the following topics:
How a FEA workflow looks like
Approaching complexity in FEA
FEA analysis of a shackle pin
Will do a poll on my socials soon, so make sure to participate! :)
The Map of Mathematics
The entire field of mathematics summarised in a single map! This shows how pure mathematics and applied mathematics relate to each other and all of the sub-topics they are made from.
The von Kármán Vortex Street
At very rapid speeds (high Reynolds number), vortices break off turbulently, as seen here. In fluid dynamics, a Kármán vortex street (or a von Kármán vortex sheet) is a repeating pattern of swirling vortices caused by the unsteady separation of flow of a fluid around blunt bodies. It is named after the engineer and fluid dynamicist Theodore von Kármán, and is responsible for such phenomena as the "singing" of suspended telephone or power lines, and the vibration of a car antenna at certain speeds.
Webinar: Fast & Easy Electronics Thermal Management
SimScale will be hosting a webinar on March, 4th on electronics cooling where Seongsu Park, a researcher at Forwiz System, my colleague Alexander Fischer and I will share insights on how Forwiz System optimized their CPU cooling by integrating SimScale into their workflow without the requirement of additional preparation of computational resources and physical space.
Alan Turing
Alan Turing was a brilliant British mathematician who took a leading role in breaking Nazi ciphers during WWII. In his seminal 1936 paper, he proved that there cannot exist any universal algorithmic method of determining truth in mathematics, and that mathematics will always contain undecidable propositions. His work is widely acknowledged as foundational research of computer science and artificial intelligence. A Turing Test is a method of inquiry in artificial intelligence (AI) for determining whether or not a computer is capable of thinking like a human being.
The remarkable technology for animating photos was licensed by MyHeritage from D-ID, a company specializing in video reenactment using deep learning. MyHeritage integrated this technology to animate the faces in historical photos and create high-quality, realistic video footage.
Upcoming Podcasts
Friday Episode
This Friday at 6pm CET, I will release a new podcast with Chris Rackauckas. Chris is an Applied Mathematics Instructor at MIT, a Senior Research Analyst in the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, and the Director of Scientific Research at Pumas-AI. He is the lead developer of the SciML open source scientific machine learning organization which develops widely used software for scientific modeling and inference.
