🏎 What is an Aero Map?
A map is a way of visualising the relationship between different parameters. For example, a geographical map can show altitude as a function of longitude and latitude. In the case of a racecar the aerodynamic lift, drag and balance can be shown as a function of car set-up such as front and rear ride height or rear wing angle. So, an aero map effectively visualises the relationship between the geometrical properties and the aerodynamic properties of a racecar.
🧠 Are We “Brain Washed” during Sleep?
New research from Boston University suggests that tonight while you sleep, something amazing will happen within your brain. Your neurons will go quiet. A few seconds later, blood will flow out of your head. Then, a watery liquid called cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) will flow in, washing through your brain in rhythmic, pulsing waves.
🤓 A Neural Network Solves and Generates Mathematics Problems by Program Synthesis: Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, and More
A neural network pre-trained on text and finetuned on code solves Mathematics problems by program synthesis is presented in this paper. The authors turn questions into programming tasks, automatically generate programs, and then execute them, perfectly solving university-level problems from MIT’s large Mathematics courses, as well as questions from a MATH dataset (on Prealgebra, Algebra, Counting and Probability, Number Theory, and Precalculus), the latest benchmark of advanced mathematics problems specifically designed to assess mathematical reasoning.
📚 Book of the Week
Fluid Mechanics
The classic textbook on fluid mechanics is revised and updated by Dr. David Dowling to better illustrate this important subject for modern students. With topics and concepts presented in a clear and accessible way, Fluid Mechanics guides students from the fundamentals to the analysis and application of fluid mechanics, including compressible flow and such diverse applications as aerodynamics and geophysical fluid mechanics.
🎙️Upcoming Podcasts
The Jamstack – React & Next.js - Mike Cavaliere | Podcast #70
Mike absolutely loves the Jamstack (JavaScript, APIs and markup) way of building things. But JavaScript evolves fast, and there are a ton of tools to choose from.
What form library should you use? How should you style things? Where do you put all my data? It's kind of overwhelming. 🤯
When you're building a SaaS (software-as-a-service) app, there are new challenges.
Do you need a database? Where should you host it? How do you keep my DB in sync with API data? That’s what Mike will explain in the podcast next week – stay tuned!
